DESCRIPTION:The last PTO meeting of the calendar year will be held on Zoom (https://howard.zoom.us/j/82571991809?pwd=wp0zCavMZxA0JRbfhLCTsKlHvtm9b0.1)\, Tuesday 12/3 at 7 PM.\n\nThis will be an opportunity to connect with the PTO’s and school’s leadership on the 2024 school year so far\, hear about what is planned for 2025\, and provide ideas for how the PTO can best serve the Mount Eagle Community.\n\nFrom 7-7:30 we will welcome Mateo Dunne\, our MV District Representative on the Fairfax County School Board\, who will present on the process of redrawing the school boundaries within FCPS\, an effort which has been getting underway this fall.\n\nHere is some advance info provided by Mateo:\n\n\nNorthern Virginia Magazine recently published an excellent article on the comprehensive reassessment of school boundaries: https://northernvirginiamag.com/culture/news/2024/10/29/fairfax-county-to-begin-process-of-changing-school-boundaries/\nI have published 3 newsletters focused entirely on school boundaries\, which are available on my webpage: https://www.fcps.edu/staff/mateo-dunne\nFCPS is holding a series of community meetings regarding school boundaries. At each meeting\, the Superintendent will present on the rationale and process for revising school boundaries. Her presentation will be followed by small-group breakout sessions (with 8-10 people in each small group) wherein a moderator will facilitate a conversation with scripted questions. The information collected and views expressed during these meetings will inform the development of potential scenarios for amending school boundaries. (Andy sidenote: I have been to a couple of FCPS meetings that have taken this format\, and they are pretty well run and informative.
